In Case You're Wondering..

  • What should I expect from counseling?
In counseling, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you will be heard and valued. Together, we will discuss your personal goals and identify areas of concern that are specific to you. Whether you are struggling with psychological, emotional, spiritual, or psychiatric issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction, or grief, or if you are facing relational difficulties and stressors involving partners, children, parents, or other loved ones, I am here to support you. I understand that faith can play a significant role in your life, and I honor and respect that. You have complete control over the extent to which your faith is integrated into our therapeutic journey. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable exploring and addressing these aspects of your life if you choose to do so. Together, we will work collaboratively to develop strategies and techniques that are tailored to your individual needs and circumstances. It is my aim to empower you to overcome challenges, gain insight, and foster personal growth and healing. Counseling can be a transformative experience, and I am honored to accompany you on this journey towards greater well-being.
  • Do you take insurance?
No, credit card, Venmo or Zelle only. I completely understand the convenience insurance can provide in terms of financial assistance. However, it's important to consider the potential impact it can have on your healing process. While some therapists do accept it, there can be potential drawbacks to consider. Insurance often requires a formal diagnosis in order to receive coverage, which may impact your privacy and confidentiality. When you use insurance, they can have access to your therapy files and may even audit the therapist at any given time. Additionally, insurance plans can have limitations on the number of therapy sessions covered and may dictate the length and frequency of visits. This can be challenging when seeking more personalized or urgent care. By choosing to pay using a credit card, Venmo, or Zelle you can have more control over all aspects of your therapeutic journey and ensure that it remains confidential and secure. Remember, your mental wellness is a priority, and it's essential to choose a payment method that aligns with your needs and concerns.
  • How long will I need therapy?
Therapy is a journey of growth and healing that can bring about positive changes within a relatively short period of time, typically ranging from 3-6 months. However, it's important to recognize that for individuals facing ongoing or complex challenges, committing to therapy for 6 months to 1 year may be necessary for a more profound transformation. This extended care allows for the deep healing of wounds and the development of invaluable coping mechanisms. But therapy isn't just about resolving immediate concerns; it's also an opportunity for self-reflection, introspection, and personal growth. Even after reaching your initial goals, continuing therapy can support your ongoing exploration and evolution toward becoming the best version of yourself. Therapy becomes a tool for constant improvement and a means to gain insights and perspectives that bolster both emotional intelligence and overall life satisfaction. You may be thinking, "But I don't think I need therapy." However, therapy isn't solely for those in crisis. It's for anyone who desires to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their behaviors, and their relationships. Therapy provides a unique space where you can explore and navigate life's challenges with the guidance of a trained professional. It's an investment in your own well-being and personal development. So, whether you're seeking therapy to address immediate concerns or to embark on a journey of self-exploration, trust in the process and give yourself permission to commit the time and effort needed. Through therapy, you will not only gain valuable tools and coping mechanisms, but you will also experience personal growth and transformation that can positively impact all aspects of your life. Take the first step, and open yourself to the possibilities that therapy can offer.
  • What is a BIPOC Therapist?
As a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) therapist, I understand the unique challenges and experiences that people from diverse backgrounds face. I am deeply committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive space for individuals seeking therapy. I recognize that trauma can take many forms and that the effects can be long-lasting and multifaceted, impacting mental and emotional well-being. In our sessions, I will work with you to explore the various aspects of your identity and how they intersect with your experiences and challenges. I will validate your experiences, create a non-judgmental environment, and help you navigate the healing process. As a trauma-informed therapist, I am trained to understand and address the impacts of trauma on mental health. I will utilize evidence-based techniques and interventions to support your healing journey. Additionally, I am committed to ongoing learning and staying informed about the latest research and best practices in trauma-informed care. I want to assure you that your cultural background, ethnicity, and experiences will be respected and valued in our therapeutic relationship. My goal is to empower you to heal, grow, and thrive by providing you with the tools and support that are specifically tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. I am honored to walk alongside you on your healing journey and to be a resource for you as you navigate the challenges and triumphs that life brings. Together, we will cultivate resilience, reclaim your power, and create a path towards greater well-being and fulfillment.
  • Do you only take BIPOC clients?
No. As a therapist, I believe in providing a safe and supportive space for all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or cultural background. I am committed to working with clients from all walks of life who are willing to engage in the therapeutic process. Drawing from my own personal experiences as an individual raised by a single immigrant mother in a community of diverse immigrants in New York and South Florida, I have developed a deep appreciation for the unique challenges and strengths that people from various cultures and backgrounds bring to therapy. Furthermore, my 20 years of experience in the mental health field have afforded me the opportunity to work with countless individuals from various backgrounds, and I am committed to continuously expanding my cultural competence and understanding. In my practice, I embrace the principles of inclusivity and equality, guided by the passage from Galatians 3:28, which reminds us that we are all one in Christ. I firmly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to access mental health support and strive towards healing and growth, regardless of their race or ethnicity.
  • Why did I become a professional clinical Christian therapist?
Here are a few reasons why I chose to become a professional clinical Christian therapist: 1. Integration of Faith and Therapy: As a Christian, I believe that faith can play a significant role in the healing process. I wanted to integrate my faith into my therapeutic approach and provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their spiritual journey alongside their mental health concerns. I believe in the power of prayer, scripture, and the presence of the Holy Spirit to bring about transformation and healing. 2. Helping Others Find God's Purpose: I am passionate about helping individuals discover their God-given purpose and live a fulfilled life. By incorporating Christian principles into my therapy practice, I can help clients understand how their faith intersects with their struggles and guide them towards aligning their lives with God's plan for them. 3. Providing Support and Healing for Spiritual Wounds: Many individuals have experienced spiritual wounds or have struggles in their faith journey that impact their mental and emotional well-being. As a professional clinical Christian therapist, I am equipped to address these specific concerns and provide a safe space for clients to work through their spiritual questions, doubts, or pain. I aim to help clients reconcile their relationship with God and find true healing. 4. Promoting Holistic Care: I believe that true healing encompasses the integration of mind, body, and spirit. By incorporating a Christian perspective into my therapy practice, I can provide holistic care that addresses the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person's well-being. I aim to help clients experience not only psychological healing but also spiritual growth and restoration. 5. Guiding Clients Through Transitional Stages: Life transitions can be challenging, and having a Christian therapist who understands the unique spiritual dynamics of these stages can be incredibly beneficial. Whether it's navigating adolescence, early adulthood, or major life changes, I am committed to providing guidance, support, and a faith-based perspective to help clients find strength, resilience, and a sense of purpose during these transitional periods. Overall, becoming a professional clinical Christian therapist allows me to combine my passion for mental health with my commitment to faith. I am grateful for the opportunity to support individuals on their journey towards healing, growth, and a closer relationship with God.
  • As a Christian therapist, do you work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs?
Yes! As a Christian therapist, my practice welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. I strongly believe that everyone deserves to have a safe and understanding space to explore their mental health and well-being. Whether you identify as Christian, follow a different faith tradition, or have no religious beliefs at all, I am here to support you on your journey. My approach is rooted in Christian values of love, compassion, and acceptance. I strive to create a non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences, beliefs, and goals. While I am open to integrating faith and spirituality into our therapeutic work if desired, I also respect and honor the unique experiences and perspectives of each individual.
